Deep tissue massage uses techniques that work on the deeper layers of muscular tissue and is a form of physical therapy that involves manipulation of soft tissues eg. muscles, tendons, fascia. 

Deep tissue massage can aid in recovery from an injury and prevent injuries from occurring in the future. It combines slow long strokes and trigger point pressure, which helps release muscular tension and tightness that is being held deep in your muscles.
